Çocuklar için oyun asla öylesine, sırf eğlenmek için geçirilen bir zaman değildir. Oyun, aynı anda birçok duyuya hitap eder, çocukların eğlenceli zaman geçirmesinin yanında onların zihinsel, duygusal, fiziksel ve bilişsel gelişimine de katkı sağlar. Öyleyse çocuklar için İngilizce eğitici oyunlar yabancı dil eğitiminde başvurulacak güzel bir seçenek olabilir.
Çocuklara İngilizce öğretirken yararlanabileceğiniz oyunları iki gruba ayırabiliriz;
Birincisi geleneksel oyunlar; çocuklarla yüz yüze, fiziksel olarak oynadığınız oyunlar.
İkincisi ise dijital oyunlar; İngilizce mobil uygulamalar, oyunlar ve internet siteleri gibi çocukların akıllı telefon, tablet veya bilgisayar ile oynadıkları oyunlar.
Her iki tip oyun da çocukların İngilizce gelişimine oldukça faydalıdır ve İngilizce öğretiminin olmazsa olmaz bir parçasıdır. Çünkü çocuklar eğlenirken İngilizce öğrendiklerinin farkına bile varmazlar. Yani yapmamız gereken oyunlar aracılığıyla İngilizceyi “onlara sezdirmeden” öğretmek.
GELENEKSEL OYUNLAR
Kulaktan kulağa. Çocuklara öğretmek ya da pekiştirmek istediğiniz kelimeleri kulaklarına fısıldayabilirsiniz.
Bir oyuncu "Simon" rolünü üstlenir ve diğer oyunculara talimatlar verir
Oyunda bir kelime belirlenir. Bu kelimenin yanında da yasaklı kelimeler belirlenir. Kelime yasaklı kelimeler kullanılmadan anlatılmaya çalışılır.
Her oyuncu birer kelime ekleyerek ilk kişinin söylediği kelime üzerinden bir hikaye oluşturulur ve hikayeyi eksik anlatan oyuncular oyundan çıkartılır. Sonunda bir kişi kalana kadar oyun devam eder.
Seçilen nesne saklanır. Bulmaya çalışılırken yaklaştıkça “Sıcak” uzaklaştıkça da “Soğuk” diyerek ip uçlarıyla oyuncu yönlendirilir.
Bir kağıda bir cümle yazarak başka bir odaya koyun. Çocuğunuzun ders kitabından seçebilirsiniz. Çocuğunuz diğer odaya gitmeli, cümleyi okumalı, sizin yanınıza geri gelmeli ve cümleyi hatırlayarak yazmalıdır.
Bu oyunu oynamak için bir oyuncu bir kelime düşünür. Sonra diğer oyuncular, bu oyuncunun hangi kelimeyi düşündüğünü bulmak için sırayla “evet” veya “hayır” soruları sorarlar. Bunu daha basit hale getirmek için renkler veya ülkeler gibi belirli kategorilerde kelimeleri sınırlayabilirsin.

DİJİTAL OYUNLAR
3-10 yaş grubu çocuklara eğlenceli şekilde İngilizce öğretmeyi amaçlayan bir İngilizce oyun uygulamasıdır. Kesinlikle verdiğiniz ücrete değecektir.
British Council tarafından hazırlanan bu sitede çocuklar için İngilizceye dair her şeyi bulabilirsiniz. Site için herhangi bir üyelik gerekmiyor, tamamen ücretsiz.

2-8 yaş arası çocuklara oyun tabanlı ve interaktif bir şekilde İngilizceyi örğretirken, içerisinde veliler için de bir rehber barındırıyor. To play this game, a player thinks of a word. Then the other players take turns asking "yes" or "no" questions to find out what word this player is thinking. To make this simpler, you can limit the words to certain categories like colors or countries.
To get started, everyone writes three simple English words. Then each word is thrown into a bowl. Players draw a word from the bowl and describe the word to their teammates who must guess the word.
A word is spoken, and the other player speaks a new word that begins with its last letter. The game continues in this way.
